Empowering First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Students

First Nation, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) students at the º£½ÇÉçÇø are investing not only in themselves but also into their communities and the larger community. FNMI students do not always have full access to all services and programs to enhance and support their success due to financial restraints and/or no personal support. • increase enrollment, retention, and resources for FNMI students,
• provide access to cultural programming and bring together community through ceremony, and

Reimagining First Peoples’ House

The º£½ÇÉçÇø has started renovations to transform the former Herbert T. Coutts Library on North campus into a new home for First Peoples’ House, significantly increasing its size — and more importantly, increasing its capacity for holistic student supports through expanded programming, staffing and resources. 

The renovated First Peoples’ House will ensure that any First Nation, Métis and Inuit student that seeks support at the º£½ÇÉçÇø will find exactly what they need to succeed and belong — in a space made just for them.

The º£½ÇÉçÇø and First Peoples’ House are seeking philanthropic support to advance this project. The º£½ÇÉçÇø has allotted $18 million towards the First Peoples’ House renovation. Philanthropic support of $6 million is needed to make the renovation a reality.

Once the renovations are complete, additional and ongoing funding will be needed to ensure First Peoples’ House’s life-changing and vital programming will meet the needs of the º£½ÇÉçÇø’s growing and evolving FNMI student body.
