Dr. Simone Pfleger - Department of Women’s and Gender Studies

Simone Pfleger is Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies at the 海角社区. Their publications include a monograph, Untimely Bodies, Untimely Aesthetics: Temporality, Relationality, and Intimacy in the Cinema of the Berlin School (2023), an edited volume, Transverse Disciplines: Queer-Feminist, Anti-racist, and Decolonial Approaches to the University (with Carrie Smith, 2022), and various articles and book chapters focusing on notions of temporality, affect, intimacy, and precarity in post-2000 German-language film and literature. Their current project is an autoethnographic study, in which they participate in local ultra-distance trail running events to then theorize the instability and fluidity of socio-culturally and historically contingent binary gender norms and work on policy changes for Alberta races.
