NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Awards

Are you interested in gaining business research experience in an academic setting? And did we mention, you’ll be paid while you gain this experience?

Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) are meant to nurture your interest and fully develop your potential for a research career in health, natural sciences, and engineering, or in social sciences and humanities. These awards are also meant to encourage you to undertake graduate studies by providing research work experience that complements your studies in an academic setting.

This is an excellent opportunity to add research experience and skills to your resume.

Overview

  • Value and term: The total minimum award value is $8400 (this amount may be supplemented further by your supervisor). Award term is for 16 weeks, and are tenable in either the Summer, Fall or Winter terms
  • Number of awards available at the Alberta School of Business: 1
  • Application deadline: Midnight (MST), Monday, February 24, 2025

Eligibility and Award Requirements

  • Applicants should have performed well in courses related to mathematics, statistics, data analysis, and computer programming.
  • Business student applicants will be given priority. 

What Types of Research will be Conducted?

Students are encouraged to create their own research project which should be NSERC-relevant and related to business statistics, business technology management, or operations management. Students should contact an eligible professor you would like to work with and discuss this opportunity. When you find an eligible supervisor who is interested, ask them to review the , then fill in their part of the application.
