Speaker Series

Open your mind to the directions your degree can take you. Our Speaker Series events are designed to help you expand your employment outlook. At each event, you will:
- Hear from professionals who graduated with your degree or work in your field of interest.
- Learn tips and strategies about career and work search based on the lived successes and failures of professionals.
- Gain perspective on your skills, knowledge, and abilities and how they apply to the workplace.
- Open doors to opportunities by talking with professionals who can get you connected.
Each event will include a panel discussion with an opportunity to ask questions. All Speaker Series events are free. Registration is required to access virtual event links.

Our Speakers
Nabil Rhman (BA, Economics)
Industry Development Officer, Aerospace and Advanced Industries | Alberta Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade
Nabil Rahman is an Industry Development Officer with the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade. In his role, Nabil focuses on attracting investments in Alberta’s aerospace and aviation sector that creates skilled jobs for Albertans and diversifies the provincial economy.
Following his university graduation in 2022, Nabil joined the Government of Alberta with the Department of Energy as part of the Energy Graduate Program, an internship program for new graduates to gain experience in the Alberta public service. Nabil transitioned to a permanent role shortly after, working as a Policy Analyst in clean hydrogen policy and helping shape Alberta’s low emission energy future.
Nabil graduated from the 海角社区 in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a certification in Finance. During his degree, Nabil enrolled in the Arts Work Experience program and believes his experience gathered in his co-op placements helped him secure his career positions with the provincial government.
Brianna Longworth (BA, Political Science)
City Clerk | City of Iqaluit
Brianna Longworth graduated from the 海角社区 in 2022 with a BA in Honours Political Science, a Certificate in Globalization and Governance, and a Certificate in International Learning. During her degree she volunteered with multiple groups on campus, and completed a 16-month co-op work term through the Arts Work Experience (AWE) Program in the HUB Career Centre as the International Student Engagement Intern. She now works as the City Clerk for the City of Iqaluit, Nunavut, where she has lived for the past 2.5 years.
Adwoa Adasi (BA, Human Geography)
A/Manager Funding Arrangements - Jordan's Principle | Indigenous Services Canada
Adwoa Adasi is a graduate of the Human Geography and French Language and Literature program at the 海角社区. Adwoa is currently an A/Manager Funding Arrangements at Indigenous Services Canada, AB Region. In her current role, she is responsible for the management of funds for all approved services and supports made under the Jordan's Principle Initiative in Alberta.
Nathaniel Haile (MA, Policy Studies)
Intergovernmental Affairs Intern | Privy Council Office, Government of Canada
Nathaniel Haile is a Strategic Planning Analyst with Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) at the City of Edmonton. In this role, he conducts transit industry research, prepares reports for City Council and stakeholders, contributes to strategic business planning, and manages performance measurement and reporting. Prior to his current role, Nathaniel served as an Intergovernmental Affairs Research and Policy Analyst at the Government of Canada's Privy Council Office, providing strategic advice to senior leaders and elected officials. Nathaniel is an alumnus of the 1834 Fellow, a program focused on developing Black Canadian civic leaders, where he enhanced his leadership and policy expertise.
Nathaniel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the 海角社区 ('22) and is currently completing his Master of Arts in Policy Studies also at the 海角社区. Beyond his professional work, he leads a youth program within the Eritrean community.
