Petroleum

For over 75 years, the º£½ÇÉçÇø has offered the only accredited BSc Petroleum Engineering degree program in Canada. Petroleum engineers specialize in exploring and developing oil and gas fields while also applying their skills to diverse subsurface engineering projects in the ever-evolving energy sector.

Our program has consistently achieved top global rankings, highlighting its excellence and garnering international recognition. Graduates from our program are involved in the exploration and development of subsurface energy resources, including oil and gas extraction, carbon and hydrogen storage, underground fluid disposal, and geothermal energy. They apply geology, physics, chemistry, and engineering sciences principles to design processes involving fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer, geomechanics, and chemistry in subsurface formations. We are proud to offer a program that provides students with a solid foundation in petroleum engineering and prepares them for successful careers in the energy sector.

Petroleum Industry Advisory Committee

The Petroleum Industry Advisory Committee (PIAC) is a group of engineering, business and community leaders who advise the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in setting and pursuing strategic priorities for the º£½ÇÉçÇø's School of Petroleum Engineering. The PIAC provides recommendations that support high-quality education, experiential learning and collaborative research with industry partners. The PIAC is led by the chair of the committee, Dean Terrien.
