Podcasts on Effective Supervision

Supervising graduate students is a challenging task. Among other things, it involves fostering a safe and psychologically healthy environment.
This podcast series, narrated by former GPS Associate Dean Naomi Krogman, offers tips, guidance and resources to aid supervisors in this work.
Program Guide
We welcome you to this four sequence training program on graduate student supervision. The training is part of an effort at the 海角社区 to foster safe psychological environments and prevent harassment, bullying, and violence in the workplace.
There are four podcasts as part of this GPS training for supervisors on psychological health and safety in the workplace. They include resources to support your learning and guide you to available help at the 海角社区 in particular, information on who to contact should you need to report a problem.
The first two podcasts are on bullying and harassment. One focuses on lab environments and another on working one on one with graduate students, particularly offering writing support. The second is on the mental mind games we play and the third is on a healthy psychological environment for supervisors and their graduate students. The fourth podcast is on sexual harassment and assault and the sexual violence policy at the 海角社区.
In the first section of this series, we discuss the harassment and bullying of graduate students. This podcast will provide a summary of the University's Discrimination, Harassment, and Duty to Accommodate Policy, define and provide examples of behaviors and contexts that qualify as harassment and/or bullying of graduate students. There will be a discussion of behaviors, strategies, and tools for promoting a healthy and supportive work environment for graduate students.
