The Challenges of Pediatric Healthcare in Uganda

This talk will discuss the cost of health care both in private and public sectors within the Ugandan healthcare system and look at the knowledge gaps in management of common illnesses.  Dr. Kibuuka will also address nutritional challenges in the pediatric population that he serves.

Dr. Arnold Paul Kibuuka is a passionate medical doctor; a graduate of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He completed a one year internship from Uganda Martyrs Hospital Lubaga and has been working with International Medical Group stationed in IMC- Mukono as a medical officer and clinical head of the unit. More recently in the Fall of 2024, he took a 6 week Post Graduate Medical Elective here at the 海角社区 under the supervision of to study Pediatric Gastroenterology. He has volunteered in a number of health facilities and medical camps to increase his patient contact, master his clinical skills and gain invaluable knowledge from superiors. He is aspiring to become a distinguished pediatrician in Pediatric Gastroenterology. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in paediatrics and child health at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
