This presentation will discuss the epidemiology of HBV worldwide and in Canada and where things stand with the WHO's global hepatitis elimination goals.  Dr. Meier-Stephenson will describe some of the gaps in research and challenges in HBV elimination and gighlight some of the research relating to HBV locally that can contribute to some of these gaps.

Dr. Vanessa Meier Stephenson is an infectious diseases physician and clinician scientist with a research focus on viral hepatitis, particularly HBV. Her and her team are interested in developing unique strategies for understanding and targeting HBV through biophysics and molecular virology work.
