Biomedical Science Review
In 2025, FoMD will undertake a review of biomedical science focus and environment to ensure future success of research, education and service.
Working Group
The review will be led by a working group chaired by Dr. Tom Stelfox, deputy dean. The group will guide internal and external consultations and provide ongoing updates about their findings throughout the year. Using the data gathered, they will bring forward a final summary report and recommendations to the dean in fall 2025.
The group will explore strategies and collect insights to address an anticipated decrease in the number of university base budget funded faculty members in the coming years coupled with rapid changes to both education and research practices.
The process will be transparent and foster engagement from individuals across the Faculty, as well as other relevant stakeholders. If you have questions please contact Dr. Tom Stelfox (stelfoxt@ualberta.ca) and cc Debbie Doudiet (ddoudiet@ualberta.ca).
The working group will use a consensus decision-making approach, and shall function in accordance with the Terms of Reference. The review is guided by the Biomedical Sciences Definition of Success.
