Canada Research Chairs
In 2000, the Government of Canada created a permanent program to establish 2000 research professorships-Canada Research Chairs-in eligible degree-granting institutions across the country.
Each eligible degree-granting institution receives an . For each Chair, a university nominates a researcher whose work complements its and who meets the program's high standards. There are two Canada Research Chairs in the Faculty of Nursing.

Research Chairs
The overall goal of the Nursing Research Chair in Aging and Quality of Life is to enhance quality of life of older adults through clinical innovative translational research. This will be achieved by developing, advancing and sustaining trans-disciplinary collaborative programs of nationally funded research in aging and quality of life that will inform nursing practice, policy and education and to position the 海角社区 Faculty of Nursing as a national research leader in this area.

In her role as the Cavarzan Chair in Mature Women’s Health Research, Dr. Colleen Norris will work closely with Alberta Health Services, the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and the WCHRI team at the Lois Hole Hospital Women’s Research Centre to promote interdisciplinary and collaborative women’s health research; provide mentorship that will promote the development of junior faculty in women’s research; develop collaborations in mature women’s health research locally, nationally and internationally; and act as an ambassador and champion to actively link research with practice for the benefit of women and the communities in which they live.
