Spring and Summer Housing

Residence has a number of options to meet the needs of students requiring spring and summer housing. Here you will find information on contracts and rates, how to apply, moving in and out details and more.

Note: The summer academic term ends August 15. If you haven't secured a spot in residence for Fall 2025, you will be required to move out by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on August 1.

Temporary housing may be available from August 1 to 15. Contact guest.services@ualberta.ca for more information.

If you have confirmed a spot in residence for Fall 2025, you will not be required to move out between terms but will need to relocate to your Fall Term assignment during the Summer Term and no later than July 25 (North Campus) residences and August 1 (Augustana Campus). Further details will be sent to you via your U of A email during the summer.

Contracts and Rates

All contract lengths are fixed. Rates include heat, water, power, tenant insurance and wireless internet. Apply early, all contracts are subject to availability.

*April 30 (Augustana Campus) and May 1 (North Campus) is the Spring/Summer contract start date for students currently living in residence as they will remain in their current room until their Spring/Summer transfer date between May 2–9 (Augustana Campus) and May 9-16 (North Campus). Confirmed dates and instructions will be emailed to your 海角社区 email in mid-April.

**May 2 (North Campus) and May 9 (Augustana Campus) is the move-in date for students not currently living in residence to accept a Spring/Summer contract beginning in May.


HOW TO APPLY

When applying for Spring and Summer housing, no building preference is required as assignments are based on vacancies and consolidated space.

  • for the Spring/Summer Term ($25 non-refundable application fee).
  • Keep an eye on your 海角社区 email (offers start going out in mid-March) and confirm your room offer promptly, pay the non-refundable $500 deposit and follow the instructions in the email.

Eligibility

海角社区 students in active degree programs or enrolled in Intersession courses are eligible for Spring and Summer residence. To qualify, students must have a valid 海角社区 student ID number, as well as a valid Campus Computing ID (CCID) and password.

Students who don’t meet this criteria, such as those from other institutions or with 海角社区 affiliations outside these categories, can inquire about alternate accommodation options by contacting Student & Guest Services at guest.services@ualberta.ca.

Roommate Search

You will be able to search and select your own roommate(s) for Spring/Summer contracts. Submit your roommate requests for shared apartments by April 1st for priority consideration. All residents must agree and request to live together. While we'll make every effort to accommodate requests, we cannot guarantee placement.

Cancellation Policy

The application fee and residence deposit are non-refundable. If you decide to cancel after paying your deposit, you must cancel by the below dates to avoid being assessed contract fees.

Moving In

Students living in residence

You will remain in your current unit and transfer to your Spring and Summer assignment between May 2–9 (Augustana Campus) and May 9-16 (North Campus). Confirmed dates and instructions will be emailed mid-April.

Students NOT living in residence

Moving OUT

Follow all move out instructions carefully.

Transferring to another residence for Fall 2025

Be prepared to move to your Fall 2025 residence over the summer and by no later than July 25 (North Campus) and August 1 (Augustana Campus). Your transfer date and instructions will be provided in advance via your 海角社区 email.

Moving out on August 1

Return keys by 12 p.m. (noon). Limited temporary housing on North Campus may be available if required at a nightly rate from August 1-15; contact guest.services@ualberta.ca for details. Use the key drop box at the Residence Services Office in International House to return keys.

Residents not moved out by 12 p.m. (noon) on August 1 will incur a minimum $85 fee, plus lock change and key replacement charges.

Moving out before August 1

Submit a notice to vacate to one of the following locations and return keys by 12 p.m. (noon) on your specified date.

  • North Campus: International House
  • Augustana Campus: Residence and Parking Services Office (Learning Commons 2nd floor)

To return your keys, use the key dropoff at:

  • North Campus: International House
  • Augustana Campus: Ravine Commons Lounge

Residents not moved out by 12 p.m. (noon) on the submitted vacate date will incur a minimum $85 fee, plus lock change and key replacement charges.


More Information

  • The meal plan does not operate over the Spring and Summer terms.
  • Storage is not available in residence.
  • Bring or buy a fan as our residences do not have air conditioning.
  • Bring your own bedding (twin size), pillows, sheets for a twin bed, towels, etc., as no linen or room service is provided. Laundry facilities are available in all residences.
  • Smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaping, is strictly prohibited, and violators may face immediate eviction.
  • Arrange parking through Parking Services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cancel my Fall residence after moving from Spring/Summer housing?

Once you move to your Fall Term assignment, you are responsible for full Fall/Winter Term contract fees.

Can I apply for a studio or 1-bedroom apartment in Spring/Summer?

No, studio and 1-bedroom apartments are not available for Spring/Summer.

Can I live in my current unit during Spring/Summer?

All students MUST be prepared to relocate to another unit for the Spring/Summer Term.

What if I require single accommodation or a private washroom during the Spring/Summer?
